Our Region

The Northern Regional Health Authority (Northern Health Region) was created in 2012 through the amalgamation of the NOR-MAN and Burntwood RHAs. The Northern Health Region is geographically the largest of the five RHAs in the province of Manitoba.


Within the Region there are

  • 2 cities (Thompson and Flin Flon)
  • 6 towns (The Pas, Gillam, Grand Rapids, Leaf Rapids, Lynn Lake, Snow Lake)
  • 1 RM (Kelsey)
  • 1 LGD (Mystery Lake)
  • Multiple hamlets and cottage settlements making up “unorganized territories”
  • 26 First Nations communities (most of which have adjacent non-treaty communities)

Our facilities include hospitals, personal care homes and health centres offering med/surg, gyny/obs, peds, & palliative.

Our facilities include:

  • Thompson General Hospital – 69 beds (incl mental health, acquired brain injury & special services)
  • Flin Flon General Hospital – 42 beds (incl special care unit)
  • The Pas Health Complex – 39 beds (incl mental health and special care unit)
  • Lynn Lake Hospital – 19 beds (incl 8 long term care)
  • Gillam Hospital – 10 beds (incl 3 long term care)
  • Snow Lake Health Centre – 5 beds (incl 3 long term care)
  • Four personal care homes totaling 152 beds in Thompson, Flin Flon and The Pas
